Take a Ride aboard ‘Ready 4 Duty,’ the last authentic U.S. Navy Douglas R4D-6S from WWII still flying.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is only available April 18 to 20 in Virginia Beach.
Travel back to 1944 and feel what it was like to hunt German U-boats along the U.S. coastline while you ride alongside depth charges and medical litters. See for yourself why after the War, the rugged Navy Douglas R4D was the first aircraft to land at the South Pole in 1956.
‘Ready 4 Duty’ is briefly stopping in VA Beach on her way from Texas to Europe to as part of the NAVY TO VICTORY TOUR to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (May 8). All ride proceeds go to support the mission.
The ride flight experience lasts about 55 minutes.

Rider Age Limitations:
1. Riders must be at least 12 years old. Riders age 12 to 17 may ride on any CAF aircraft, as long as they have parent or guardian written permission.
2. All riders must be able to enter and exit the plane under their own power. This is a safety requirement.
3. All riders, or their parent/guardian, must read and sign the CAF Hold Harmless Agreement.
